Hometown History

How to use this manual
About this Manual

We have designed the "Hometown History" manual to be used by Girl Scouts and community relations managers at local cable companies.

It includes the activities that make up the "Hometown History" program, as well as information that pertains directly to Girl Scout troop leaders or community relations managers. The activities may be printed out so that every participating Girl Scout has her own copy to work with.

For "Hometown History" to work in your neighborhood, you should make a phone call -- to your cable system's community relations manager if you're a troop leader, or to your Girl Scout executive council if you're a community relations manager. Your phone book or directory information will have their phone numbers. Get together, by phone or in person, and plan when you will initiate this project. Six weeks is plenty of time from start to finish, once you've decided to participate. The Girl Scouts will learn so much about their past. And you'll learn a surprising amount of information, too!
