Panelist Bios

Bill Walton (Host)
Bill Walton was the first overall pick in the 1974 NBA Draft by the Portland Trailblazers and went on to play for the San Diego/Los Angeles Clippers and the Boston Celtics. He captured two NBA championships (Portland 1977, Boston 1986) and the NBA's Most Valuable Player Award in 1978. Walton was inducted to the Hall of Fame in 1993 and is now a television commentator for the NBA.

 

Walt "Clyde" Frazier (Panelist)
Walt Frazier was the first-round pick for the New York Knicks in the 1967 NBA Draft and was selected to the NBA All-Rookie Team in 1968. The seven-time NBA All-Star played 10 seasons with the Knicks and won two NBA championship titles ('70 &'73) before joining the Cleveland Cavaliers (1977-80). Frazier led the Knicks in scoring five times and still remains New York's all-time assist leader (4,791). He was inducted to the Hall of Fame in 1987 and named one of the NBA's 50 Greatest Players.

 

Dave Cowens (Panelist)
Dave Cowens was named NBA Co-Rookie of the Year in 1971. He played with the Boston Celtics, where he won two championship titles ('74 & '76), and served as player/coach during the 1978-79 season. After one season with the Milwaukee Bucks (1982-83) he retired and went on to become assistant coach for the San Antonio Spurs (1994-96) and head coach for the Charlotte Hornets (1996-99).

 

George "Iceman" Gervin (Panelist)
George Gervin began his career in the American Basketball Association in 1972 before joining the NBA with the San Antonio Spurs in 1974. After eleven seasons with the Spurs he played one season with the Chicago Bulls (1985-86). Gervin, a five-time NBA All-Star, also led the league in scoring four times. He was inducted to the Hall of Fame in 1996 and was named one of the NBA's 50 Greatest Players.

 

Ric Bucher (Panelist)
Ric Bucher covers the NBA as a senior writer for ESPN the Magazine. In 2004, he collaborated with Rockets center, Yao Ming, to author a book entitled, "Yao: A Life in Two Worlds".
