Lincoln Lesson Plan Contest for Teachers
TEACHERS:
Celebrate Lincoln's bi-centennial by creating an engaging lesson plan for your students. Your innovative plan must cover some aspect of Abraham Lincoln's life, legacy, and/or political career. Submit your lesson plan to HISTORY's contest for the chance to earn one of three grants and a Lincoln DVD set with curriculum resources from HISTORY. The Grand Prize Winners will be HISTORY's special guests at a Lincoln event in Washington DC in May (exact date TBD).
Contest is open to teachers and/or educators of Elementary (K-4th grades), Middle (5th-8th grades), and High School (9th-12th grades) students in public, private, parochial, home schools or after school programs. HISTORY will judge entries by grade level and will select three winners in each category.
Entries will be judged based on relevance to curriculum, clarity of expression, use of primary sources and innovative and/or multi-media strategies, and explanation of assessment method. How you present your lesson plan to us is up to you - typewritten essay, scrapbook, photos, samples, etc. Please note that entries will not be returned.

- Download, print, and complete the submission form

Lincoln Coin Box Contest for Students
ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS:
Give a Lincoln for Lincoln is HISTORY's campaign to raise funds to preserve historic sites associated with Lincoln's life and legacy. Join HISTORY in this initiative by creating your own Lincoln-inspired coin box. Your design inspiration is the life and legacy of Abe Lincoln. The materials you use are up to you. The top 3 coin boxes from each grade level - Elementary (K-4th grades), Middle (5th-8th grades) and High School (9th-12th grades) – will win a cash grant from HISTORY. The top winner in each grade level will be HISTORY's special guest at a Lincoln event in Washington DC in May (exact date TBD).
The contest judges aren't mind readers so, in 250 words or less, describe how your coin box's design is relevant to Lincoln's life, political career and/or legacy. Please note: entries will not be returned.
Entries will be judged based on creativity, relevance to theme, clarity of written explanation and design presentation.
Contest is open to students between K – 12th grade in public, private, parochial, home schools or after school programs.

Lincoln Video Contest for Students
HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE STUDENTS:
HISTORY wants you to grab your video cameras and create an engaging short film about Abraham Lincoln's life, political career and/or legacy. Pick any topic to cover and any style for your film – fiction, drama, non-fiction, animated, or any other genre as long at it pertains to the theme of Lincoln. Videos need to be 3 minutes or less and submitted on DVD.
High school and college entries will be judged separately based on the following criteria: creativity, relevance to theme, narrative clarity and structure, visual presentation. The top three winners in each group will win cash grants, with the top winners also receiving a trip to Washington DC to join HISTORY at a special Lincoln event in May (exact date TBD).
Contest is open to high school students (9th – 12th grades) and college students (ages 18 – 24) in public, private, parochial, home schools, after school programs, and colleges/universities. If you are between the ages of 18 and 24, you do not need to be enrolled in school to participate.
