About the Host

Hunter Ellis
Host, Man Moment Machine

Hunter Ellis, host of The History Channel series, Man Moment Machine, takes a fresh and energetic approach to showcase how the intersection of mankind and some of history's greatest inventions have made a lasting impact on the world.  His desire to actually work hands on with each featured technology is something that is well known from his three seasons hosting the series, Tactical to Practical, also on the History Channel.

Hunter has shared many heart-stopping adventures with viewers in order to highlight the fun and exciting elements that history has to offer.  He has skydived solo with the Army's Golden Knights, flown with both the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds, jumped out of helicopters with the Coast Guard's rescue swimmers, raced Formula One cars, and driven a Sherman tank, just to name a few.

Hunter is a third generation Navy Fighter Pilot with over 2000 hours in the F/A-18, TA-4J, T-2C, and T-34C. During his 10 years of Naval service, he completed two Middle East deployments in support of Operations Southern Watch and Desert Strike, and accumulated 433 carrier landings, over 100 at night. In addition, he was a qualified F/A-18C Flight Demonstrations Pilot and Landing Signals Officer.   After completion of his service, Hunter became a pilot for FedEx before beginning his work with the History Channel.

Hunter is a graduate of the University of Southern California and currently resides in Los Angeles where he also has worked for KCBS and KCAL hosting a weeknight evening magazine show and a variety of specials that have received numerous LA Emmy nominations and awards.  In his spare time, he continues to travel and explore new challenges.  Whether it is climbing the glaciers of Mt Rainier or racing 150 miles across the sands of the Sahara Desert, Hunter believes there is a new adventure around every corner.
