Advertising Seen on The History Channel

  1. Why are there commercials on The History Channel?
We are committed to the most unobtrusive interruption of our programming, but A&E, like all basic cable networks, is advertiser-supported. Therefore, there must be commercials on THE HISTORY CHANNEL.

  2. Sometimes the sound level during the commercials is really loud, why does this happen?
Our audio signal is kept at the same level during commercials as it is during the programs. However, your cable company gets to insert local ads for several minutes every hour. The problem most often occurs if your cable company is not matching the audio level of local commercials to our signal when they insert these ads. This is a common problem that plagues many cable systems.

Please call your cable company and speak to their technicians about this problem.

  3. What is the purpose of Public Service Announcements (PSA) broadcast on The History Channel?
PSAs are submitted to THE HISTORY CHANNEL by various charitable organizations and each spot is reviewed for content. We do not charge air-time for PSAs since it is our hope that these segments deliver important public safety and awareness information to our viewers.
