Technical Information
- Is The History Channel signal in stereo?
Our audio signal is always broadcast in stereo. However, it is up to your local cable company to re-transmit that signal in stereo to your home. Since some cable systems choose to condense the signal to mono, you should contact your local cable company regarding their policy.Even when the original program is in mono, our signal is in stereo. However in this case, it would not be a true stereo signal since the mono signal would only be replicated on both stereo channels.
- Who do I contact if I'm experiencing constant picture and sound problems with my History Channel signal?
If there is technical (picture or sound) failure at our end, it is usually resolved in minutes. Therefore, if you experiencing continuing problems with your picture or sound, please contact your programming provider since that provider picks up THE HISTORY CHANNEL signal from the satellite and delivers it to your home.
- Why is the background music so loud during some of your shows?
The background music during our programs is always kept at a low level so that it does not detract from the commentators. There could be several reasons why you're not getting a clear audio signal. The problem may originate with your programming provider since they receive our signal directly from the satellite. You may want to contact your programming provider for assistance.
The other possibility is your television set. If it is an older model or if it is in need of service, it will not deliver clear sound.
- Are transcripts available for programs telecast on The History Channel?
