Submission Guidelines

We are soliciting six design teams, two per region, to compete in The City of the Future competition along side a nationally recognized slate of designers.

Team Parameters

To qualify as a team you must be a group of at least four individuals with a minimum of one professional architect.  It is recommended that teams also include an engineering professional. Students as well as architectural and engineering interns are strongly encouraged to apply.  Teams will be provided with a pre-determined amount of funds to produce their competition entry, but will be responsible for all additional costs associated with the competition and any travel and related expenses that may be required to participate.

Submission Details

Teams interested in participating in The City of the Future: A Design and Engineering Competition, should submit the following information.

Letter of Interest
The letter of interest must present a compelling argument as to why your firm or team of individuals should be selected to participate. What insights does your group bring to this competition? What insights can you offer The History Channel into the City of the Future? Responses should be clear and concise. Maximum length: 500 words.
Previous Experience
Provide three examples of your past work. Proposed teams must submit photos and a narrative description of three projects they have worked on. The material submitted should sufficiently document the projects so that reviewers can get a clear understanding of the exact challenge facing the designer and how the project met or exceeded expectations of the client or end-user. Projects submitted may be built or unbuilt, but must demonstrate an interest in how architectural or engineering innovation can be used to solve an existing set of problems.

In your submission, please indicate which regional design charrette competition (NY, Chicago, LA) you are applying for. You may apply for more than one regional design charrette.
