Brad Meltzer's Decoded: The Lincoln Assassination
Brad Meltzer's Decoded: The Lincoln Assassination
Best-selling author Brad Meltzer and his Decoded team examine claims that John Wilkes Booth actually escaped to freedom after murdering President Abraham Lincoln in 1865. The "official" version of events says federal agents cornered Booth and killed him just days after the assassination. But Brad and the team uncover glaring inconsistencies in that 150-year-old account: Why did the authorities hide Booth's body from public view? Why was Booth autopsy's conducted in complete secrecy in the cramped confines of an ironclad gunboat? Searching for answers to these and other troubling questions, the team finds startling evidence that strongly suggests Booth may indeed have lived into old age without ever facing punishment for his crime. Nazi Titanic
Nazi Titanic
To the Nazis of WWII, film was a weapon used to justify murder and even genocide. Joseph Goebbels, the head of the Nazi propaganda machine, personally commissioned The Titanic; he saw it as a potent weapon in demonizing the English. In his pursuit of creating what was to be the Third Reich's cinematic masterpiece he was ruthless. He had the first director murdered and poured in unrivalled resources even bringing troops back from the front to use as extras. The film was intended to show German valor and Allied weakness, but when it was finished it portrayed an entirely different message. It had become an allegory for Nazism itself. There was an all too apparent parallel of a country heading towards its own iceberg and sinking. The story of the Nazi Titanic had an unpleasant sting in its tail. The boat used to play the Titanic in the film, the Cap Arcona, was sunk by allied bombers with an even greater loss of life than the original ship. TVPG VL | CC |

Hi-Tech Hitler.
Hi-Tech Hitler.
Was it possible for good science to come out of the Nazi regime, and why did science and technology thrive during this time? When Hitler came to power, Germany was one of the world's most advanced technological countries. We'll examine five crucial scientific advances of the Nazi period that still have an impact today. Nazi scientists were the first to establish a direct link between smoking and cancer. Hitler exploited the discovery of Hi-Fi recording equipment to boost Nazi propaganda broadcasts. The first jet fighter flew in Germany, eventually commissioned by Hitler, but too late to win the war in the air, and with it came the first pilot ejection seat. Even the electron microscope, one of the greatest inventions of the 20th century, was discovered in Germany, but ignored by the Nazis. This is the true story of the scientific feats and failures of Hitler's Nazi Germany. TVPG VL | CC |

Was Abraham Lincoln's lifelong anguish the driving force behind his ultimate transcendence to America's most beloved President? Award-winning director Vikram Jayanti takes a look through Lincoln's eyes on his last day as Lincoln is wracked by memory, premonition, and regret. His entire life was a continuing battle to contain and overcome his depressions, suicidal urges, unsettled sexuality, tragic family life, and a history of political opportunism--a battle he fought with his powerful innate wit and charm and his developing idealism. Yet today, controversy continues to rage over his ambiguous psychology and sexuality. In this 3-hour special, we are joined by leading Lincoln biographers Gore Vidal, Jan Morris, and Harold Holzer, among others, as well as with Andrew Solomon, author of The Noonday Demon, for a fresh look.
