Loggers plant five trees for every one that they cut down, because the trees are harvested at two different times. The first is usually when the tree is thirty to forty years old, and the second is when it is at the age of about sixty years. The first harvest allows the other trees to grow even larger, and is the reason why trees are planted so close together.
