David Cheetham
Consulting Archaeologist
David Cheetham has been a practicing archaeologist for more than two decades, both in the field and as an educator. Trained as a Mesoamerican archaeologist, he has conducted research in the countries of Guatemala, Belize and, most recently, Mexico, where he worked on the site of Canton Corralito, a 3,000-year-old Olmec colony on the Pacific Coast of Chiapas that is the earliest known colony in the Americas. He has authored or co-authored more than 50 essays and other studies of Mesoamerican cultures, including the Maya and Olmec, which have appeared in leading journals, books and at national conferences.
