Chasing Mummies

Meet the Archaeologists

Zoë D'Amato

Fellow

Born and raised in Nova Scotia, Canada, Zoë D'Amato studied anthropology and art history at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. She grew up on a small family farm riding horses, swimming in rivers and camping in the wilderness. A former gymnast, D'Amato is also a nationally ranked biathlete.

Driven by her insatiable curiosity, D'Amato has lived in France, Germany, Japan and New Zealand, and has traveled extensively around the world. To finance her expeditions, she has worked as an actress, librarian, English teacher, bartender and fundraiser for Greenpeace.

Although golden mummies can be seductive, D'Amato loves archaeology for the window it provides on the everyday lives of ancient peoples. Working with Dr. Zahi Hawass gave D'Amato the opportunity to indulge both her passion for archaeology and her taste for adventure.
