As the great-great-great-grandson of Samuel McCoy, Randall McCoy’s brother, Jim McCoy is the family patriarch. He is an extremely generous man—as long as you’re not a Hatfield—and welcomes anyone with a McCoy last name into his home. Despite his kindness, Jim is infamous for his violent temper. He used to be a coal miner but then started a number of small businesses to keep him out of the mines. Jim was also a police officer, worked on the railroads and proudly served in the military for two years. His love for moonshine is rivaled only by his love for his family. Jim is the father of Courtney, John and James, and he hopes one day to get his eldest son, John, out of the coal mines and working in one of his small businesses.
