Congratulations to Tajin R., a student from Virginia, for winning the first National History Bee for middle school students! As the National History Bee Champion, Tajin receives a 50,000 scholarship sponsored by HMH (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt).

A quiz bowl veteran, Tajin says history "has never seemed dry or boring" to him. He is particularly interested in the military savvy of Hannibal, whom he sees as an "amazingly charismatic character." Tajin also enjoys flute, piano, soccer and taekwondo. He is interested in several other academic subjects, including math, science and engineering.
