Jason has spent his entire career racing to live up to his family name. His grandfather Bobby, great-uncle Billy, father Gary and brother Burt have set the bar high, amassing countless checkered flags at Bowman Gray.
Jason started out on the fast track, winning Rookie of the Year in 1998. Since then, however, he's trailed behind his brother and other Bowman Gray favorites, including Junior Miller and Tim Brown. This may be less an issue of talent than of time, however. While Burt devotes himself fully to racing, Jason rises at dawn to work the early shift at UPS before starting his second job at a towing company.
On the track, Jason plays it safer than his brother, perhaps because his father, Gary, owns his racecar. He's been known to protect Burt, running interference from the other cars. Ultimately, however, Jason claims he is in it to win it for himself.
