Shark Wranglers

Bios

Ryan Johnson

Growing up in the island nation of New Zealand and never straying far from the sea, Ryan always dreamed of becoming a marine biologist to study the animals hidden beneath the oceans. In 1998 he moved to Southern Africa, where he began his work with the ocean's greatest predator—the great white shark. The experience changed his life forever and opened his eyes to the truth about this charismatic yet vulnerable predator. Ryan became determined to continue research that could protect the sharks. A veteran of numerous adventure expeditions to study and document these amazing marine predators, Ryan has witnessed the destructive nature of humans toward these apex creatures. But with more and more people dedicating their lives and efforts to shark conservation, the oceans may one day bite back.
