The Wolf Man
Full Name: Shaun Ellis
Hometown: Devon, England
Feared for their aggression and territoriality, wolf packs can take down an animal 10 times their size. But, unbelievably, it's rumored that, Shaun Ellis of the UK has become wolf-like--by living, sleeping, bathing and feeding with a deadly pack of wolves.
As a child, Shaun was fascinated by nature and preferred exploring the local countryside to playing with his friends. By observing foxes and wild animals at night, he learned how to use his sense of smell and sound to navigate.
Although he was initially frightened of wolves, Shaun soon became obsessed with how these canine predators live as a family. As wolf populations around the world declined, Shaun made it his mission to research them in hopes of helping people understand more about their way of life.
In 2005, Shaun spent 18 months living in captivity with a pack of gray wolves in an effort to become part of the pack. His hope was that, by immersing himself in their world, he would be able to dispel myths and compile research about these fiercely territorial animals.
Since then, Shaun has dedicated his life to studying and living with wolves and has learned to communicate with them through scent and sound. He currently lives directly outside the wolf enclosure at Combe Martin Wildlife Park in North Devon, England, so that he is in close proximity to the wolves at all times.
Shaun has said about wolves, "Although many people refer to wolves as savage killers, I've come to know and love them as family."
Daniel witnesses this affinity firsthand as Shaun takes a 50-pound calf carcass into a den full of hungry, snarling wolves.
