On February 12, 1974, eight days after the abduction of newspaper heiress Patty Hearst, California's KPFA radio played an audiotape sent by the Symbionese Liberation Army, the radical militants responsible for the kidnapping. On the recording, Hearst appeals to her father to follow the SLA's demands to secure her safe release.
