Intro
Here's how:
1. You must be in grades 5, 6, 7 or 8 (sorry, older kids-you're stuck writing term papers!)

2. Create a poster that tells the world what The Star-Spangled Banner means to you.You can use paint, pens, crayons, colored pencils, photographs...or you could create it on your computer and print it out. And since it's a poster, it should be big-at least as big as a sheet of looseleaf paper (8 1/2" x 11").
When we judge the posters, we'll be looking for three things.
  • Originality. It has to be something you created yourself.
  • Creativity. It has to be really interesting-maybe even a little wild!
  • Relevance. It has to be about what The Star-Spangled Banner means to you.

3. OK. If you've made the poster, then the tough part's over. Now take a 3" by 5" piece of paper (like a small index card) and write the following:
  • Your Name
  • Your Street Address
  • Your City, State and Zip Code
  • Your Telephone Number (with area code)
  • Your Age
  • Your Teacher's Name
  • The Name of Your School
  • Your School's Address
  • Your School's City, State and Zip Code
  • The Name of Your Local Cable System (if you know it)
Permission Intermission!
Before you go any further, be sure to show this page to a parent or another adult, and get their permission to send all that information to the History Channel. We won't give your information out to anyone else, and we won't use it for any purpose other than this contest.

4. Now attach the piece of paper to your poster.

5. Send it all to:
