1877

Illustration

In 1877, the American flag was one hundred years old, and the federal government requested that it be flown from all public buildings. The Star-Spangled Banner flag, the one undergoing conservation at the National Museum of American History, was only 64 years old at the time!

Its a great way to show pride in our country. It also makes it a lot easier to find a post office.
