In 1808, James Madison was elected fourth president of the United States. He would serve for eight years, and would lead the country during the War of 1812.

And best of all, he did it without TV commercials, sound bites or spin doctors.

Fun Fact
James Madison received 122 electoral votes in the 1808 election. Charles C. Pinckney and George Clinton received 47 votes and 6 votes, respectively. George Clinton served as Vice President to Madison.
