NYSE unveils new program

In 1938, with the nation still wary from stock market crash of 1929, Wall Street needed a way to boost investor confidence. So, on October 31, 1938, the New York Stock Exchange unveiled a fifteen-point program geared toward upgrading protection for the investing public. The exchange also hoped the measures would serve as a vehicle for repositioning itself as a more service-oriented and user-friendly organization.
