Battle of Bosworth Field
On August 22, 1485, King Richard III was defeated and killed by Henry Tudor, the earl of Richmond, in the the Battle of Bosworth Field. The fighting was the last major battle of the War of the Roses. After the battle, Henry Tudor was crowned King Henry VII, beginning the rule of the house of Tudor over England. The dynasty would last until Queen Elizabeth's death in 1603.
