On Ask Steve, the differences between Yippies and Hippies are discussed. In the 1960's the hippies had long hair, experienced with sex and drugs, and ultimately wanted out of society. Yippies were hippies that were politically active. It could be said that these groups had a profound impact on society, even more than some politicians because by the 1970's everybody was a hippie, it became mainstream.
