As the American Revolution unfolded, English King George III sought to put down the rebellious colonies by sending one of his most talented and respected generals to fight and conquer the insurrectionists--General William Howe.

As WWII raged across Europe and the Pacific, one branch of the U.S. military went quietly about its business, moving with such secrecy that it was dubbed the "Silent Service".

Despite common belief, the Civil War does not end in 1865, and the blood of many Americans continues to flow freely. It is a period known as "Reconstruction." America is supposed to be reuniting and healing its wounds, but what emerges is a picture of murder, terrorism and chaos as "free" black men and women remain enslaved by a South that does not completely surrender. Insurgencies led by ex-Confederate soldiers rip through every southern state. America's first terrorist group, the Ku Klux Klan, is formed. Hundreds are butchered in citywide race riots, like the infamous New Orleans Massacre of 1866. Counter-insurgency groups form, like the Lowry Gang, who fights a guerilla-style battle against Confederates and northern carpetbaggers like D.P. Upham, who battles the Klan in Arkansas. All Americans feel the Civil War's aftershocks for years, while some believe its tremors are felt even today.

After Custer, Thermopylae is the most famous last stand in history. In a narrow pass in Northern Greece, seven thousand Greek soldiers await an onslaught of epic proportions. They will soon face the largest fighting force ever assembled.

Fourteen remaining marksmen face an old challenge with a new twist. Players must pick a rival to shoot against in a head to head, high-speed showdown featuring the Sig Sauer P229. However, when two buddies head to the elimination round, friendships are put to the test. Nothing short of perfection will allow them to edge out their competition and guarantee their futures.

For the first time in Top Shot history, trick shots will determine who stays and who goes. Reminiscent of a Wild West Show, three teams of five perform the Annie Oakley shot; knock back bowling pins, and shoot pipes out of mannequins' mouths. Showy shots challenge two marksmen sent to elimination, where only one will progress while the other is sent packing.

This episode reveals the intimate relationship between a soldier and the tools of his trade--everything from the uniform that protected him from the elements to the weapons that protected him from the enemy.

For Allied servicemen, the last year of WWII proved the most difficult. Though victory was nearly assured, some of the roughest battles lay ahead.
