Old Smokey is a self-proclaimed “ration hound”, a vintage food expert with a focus on military food. This love—which he calls “the passion for the ration”—grew out of his desire to feel a greater connection to his grandfather who served in WWII. Eating exactly what his grandfather ate in war brought him into the world of historical foods. There’s a certain reverence that Smokey brings to vintage food and every package he tears into is a special occasion. While he thrives on the history of ancient food, he’s also up for anything that’s off the chart spicy or something most people would not dare eat.
