On March 25th, many historical events occurred. Russ Mitchell recaps these events for us in this video clip from This Day in History. One event was the British abolishment of the Trans-Atlantic African Slave Trade on March 25th. Also on this day, Martin Luther King Jr. and 25,000 other demonstrators marched through Montgomery Alabama demanding voting rights for black Americans. After the Mogadishu incident, American troops withdrew from Somalia in 1994. Factory Safety conditions got better after this tragic incident on March 24, when 145 people died in a matter of 18 minutes. During these 18 minutes, The Triangle Shirtwaist Company caught on fire, and the exits were either locked or impassible so that workers were unable to leave.
