The Fight to End Child Labor

(1m 25s) tv-pg

In a History of the Holidays video, discover how unions put an end to child labor in factories during the early 1900's, along with excessive hours and pay cuts. Due to factory owners lack of care for the safety of their workers, children were welcomed as laborers; the fact that children made half the money adults did made children even more than welcome in factories. But as labor unions formed, so did striking and rebellion; but their hard work paid off when children were outlawed from working.
