December 6th may seem like just another day like all the rest. From a historical viewpoint; however, December 6th proves to be a very important date. It was on this date in 1884 that the famous Washington Monument was completed; the same monument that is marveled at every day by tourists. In 1947, the Florida Everglades were dedicated as a national park by President Harry S. Truman, and just twenty six years later, in 1973, Gerald Ford was sworn in as Vice President. This marked the first time that a Vice President was sworn in that was not elected by the American People.
