Henry Wells and William Fargo founded their company, Wells Fargo Shipping and Banking Company, making it the first nationwide express. It was founded during the Gold Rush to transport people and goods across the nation. Also, the Schick company released the first electric razor, and the first Soviet cosmonaut walked in space. On this day, Great Britain also repealed the Stamp Act, as it caused rebellion in the American colonies.
