Originally from Ontario, Connor McMahon came north to work as a fishing guide — but it was a single sled dog run at age fifteen that changed the course of his life, eventually leading him to build an off-grid homestead deep in the Yukon’s Boundary Ranges alongside his partner Jen and more than fifty sled dogs. After placing 8th in the 2025 Yukon Quest 450 and 20th in the 2025 Iditarod, Connor is pushing harder than ever toward the front of the pack, and with racing season behind him, he’s now in the thick of the off-season grind — training nearly fifty dogs at a time, raising pups, conditioning teams, and rebuilding the infrastructure that keeps the kennel running. For Connor, the dogs are more than athletes; they’re partners, and whether covering hundreds of miles across frozen wilderness or hauling firewood through muddy spring trails, he and his team move as one.
