In a Mail Call video, R. Lee Ermey answers a question from John of Bend, Oregon who writes, Whats the dope on the deuce and a half? For those who dont know, John is talking about the 6x6, two and half ton trucks that won World War II. In 1944, the only way for Americans to get enough supplies from the beaches at Normandy, across France, and to the front line was with a non-stop convoy; therefore, the army set up a delivery system called the Red Ball Express. Drivers and their trucks delivered more than a half million tons of ammo, fuel, food, weapons, and more. The deuce and half is so reliable that it is still around; todays models are multi-fueled diesel trucks.
