This Day In History: 03/15/44 BC - The Ides of March

The date March 15th is well known as the Ides of March because of the assassination of Roman Emperor Julius Caesar that day. Russ Mitchell tells us this along with other historic events that occurred in this video clip from This Day in History. The first blood bank was established in Chicago on March 15th along with Elizabeth Taylor marrying Richard Burton for their first time in Montreal. President Lyndon B Johnson appeared before the full Congress to demand that all Americans receive the right to vote after violence broke out in Selma Alabama.
