Elvis Presley is known by everyone as the King of Rock and Roll. Did you know however, that he was drafted on December 20, 1957? December 20th marks many historical days in our history. In 1989, the United States invaded Panama, while just six years later, in 1995, the peace was brought to Bosnia by NATO agreements. December 20th also marks the beginning phases of the Civil War because it was on this date, in 1860, that South Carolina became the first official state to succeed from the Union. The DSM once labeled homosexuality a mental disorder. In the 1960s, LGBTQ+ activists Barbara Gittings and Frank Kameny pushed to change that, helping spur its removal from the DSM in 1973.
